Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival Presents…
Shakespeare on Pluto
By Matthew Windham
Songs by AJ Maniglia and Anne Cuevas

In collaboration with Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy and Lowell Observatory

February 14-23, 2025
The Beaver Street Theatre

After the successful run of Simply Silly Shakespeare, an original play designed for young audiences, the characters of Shakespeare and Jacques are back, this time with ROBOTS! Join FlagShakes at our new Beaver Street Theatre in downtown Flagstaff this February for Shakespeare on Pluto, an uproarious sequel that will knock your socks off!

What happens when William Shakespeare meets futuristic robots on the solar system's edge? A hilarious, heartfelt journey that bridges centuries, explores cosmic marvels, and proves that human curiosity knows no bounds—not even the limits of time and space. All with the slapstick comedy and music we grew to love in Simply Silly. (Description courtesy of Matthew Windham)

Directed by Essie Windham and written by Matthew Windham with the help of AJ Maniglia, Anne Cuevas, and the students of Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy (FALA), this script is sure to have you rolling in your seat with laughter just like Simply Silly in 2023.The show stars Matthew Windham and AJ Maniglia, returning as their original roles. The play is created in collaboration with FALA students, who both assisted in creating the script, and also built actual robots for the show under the direction of science teacher John Compton. The play is also in conjunction with Lowell Observatory for the I Heart Pluto Festival!

We can’t wait to see you at the show, and remember, our shows are family friendly and fidget friendly, so babies, toddlers, and kiddos who may have never seen a play before are welcome! Don’t have a kiddo? This play was written with young audiences in mind, but is enjoyable for all ages of theatre-goers.
