- Time8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Join The Retreat Ladies and The Running University for the Wild Burro Chi Yoga Hike, our third collaborative event designed to help you align with your goals for the new year, invest in your self care, increase your mindfulness, appreciate the natural beauty of Lake Pleasant, and enjoy a safe and welcoming community of other like-minded women.
Burro/donkey symbolism represents a strong will, determination, and hard work. If you have dreams and aspirations, don't give up on them, even when things get tough. Also, this spirit animal teaches you to say no – especially in situations where what people ask of you goes against your personal views and beliefs. Additionally, the Donkey reminds you of the importance of self-preservation. If a particular habit isn’t improving your life, change it. This power animal also prompts you to take care of yourself and not spend the rest of your life, trying to win the crowd’s approval.
As we mindfully hike and practice together, you will find opportunities to identify and align with your intention for the New Year. In addition, you might also also gain some of the following:
- New friends
- A fresh perspective
- An appreciation of the way your body can move
- The gifts of slowing down and being present
- Amazing scenery
- New mindfulness practices and techniques you can apply to your every day life
- And so much more!

Event Details:
Our event will begin with instruction on Chi Walking/Hiking from Master Instructor, Lisa Pozzoni of TRU Tribe and The Running University. ChiWalking blends ancient Tai Chi principles with proper body mechanics so you learn how reduce impact to your body and joints. Lisa will show you how to get in proper posture, move from your Center, and how to avoid injuries by teaching you the key mind/body principles of ChiWalking.
We will then mindfully hike together, taking all of the beauty of South Mountain and the surrounding area. Midway through our hike, Sara Chesterfield will lead us through a QiGong practice where we'll blend the beauty of nature with the serenity of Qigong and meditation.
Near the end of our hike, Dawn Hopkins will guide us through a Gentle Standing Yoga Flow to stretch, breathe, and mindfully move energy through our bodies.
At the end of our event, we will enjoy some girlfriend time and practice mindful eating while enjoy some home made yogurt, granola fruit, and mimosoas (or mockmosas).
We are thrilled to once again combine our shared experience with all of you to help you learn how to combine mindfulness, movement, meditation, and breath work in a practical way…all while enjoying the gorgeous scenery of Lake Pleasant and the company of amazing women!
We hope you will join us for this unique experience!
